One of the best tools to protect our health is of course nutrition.
As a martial artist, I have long searched for the best possible diet. I’ve tried everything I thought would be good for my health and my performance, literally using my body as a lab. From High Protein diet to Vegetarian and Vegan diet, Blood Type diet, Warrior diet, Fasting, Mono diet, Raw Food diet, Acid/Alkaline diet, Paleo diet, Evolutionary Nutrition, Chrononutrition, Keto diet…
The more I searched into nutrition and health, the more I realized one simple truth. Modern humans don’t have a clue about human health, not even doctors. I discovered that the answers I was looking for were a blend between ancient traditions, recent discoveries, and good sense.
First we have to realize that we don’t eat what we like, but rather what we are told and programmed to eat. The food industry, with its financial power throughout the world, puts peoples and governments under its control and dictates our dietary habits through advertising, legislating, and labeling as well as by its so-called scientific research (financed by the industry, of course!).
Large supermarket corporations act without control and without ethic, and play remorselessly with the health of their customers. People are ignorant about “human nutrition” and this to the profit of the food industry.
People are also dependent on their inaccurate beliefs in the field of nutrition and I could provide endlessly examples such as:
“Milk is full of calcium, it is good for your health.”
Well… NO. Human beings are alone in drinking the milk of another species. Cows’ milk contains all the indispensable nourishing elements for the growth of a calf between 0 and 1 year of age. The problems due to its consumption by humans (asthma, allergy, bronchitis, eczema, etc.) are well known and well documented. In reality, people who do not consume milk (especially cow milk) have a much better bone density.
So yes… Cow’s milk is Mother Nature’s “perfect food”…for a calf until it is fully grown.
All cow’s milk (regular and organic) has fifty-nine active hormones, scores of allergens, fat and cholesterol. Non-organic cow milk has measurable quantities of herbicides, pesticides, dioxins (up to two hundred times the safety levels), up to fifty-two powerful antibiotics (perhaps fifty-three, with LS-50), blood, pus, feces, bacteria and viruses.
And what about those processed foods products that the industry has no problem calling FOOD and selling us?
Hippocrates said 2,500 years ago:
“Let food be thy medicine.”
Here is an idea… Eat the food your great-grand parents use to eat (or as close to as possible), and you’ll be healthy! Natural, whole foods, and good sense. That’s all we need.
